Service area and hybrid businesses
When you list your service area, it lets customers know where you’ll go to visit or deliver to them. Service area can be used by:
Service-area business: A business that visits or delivers to customers directly, but doesn’t serve customers at its business address. For example, a plumber or cleaning service. Service-area businesses may create only one profile for the metropolitan area that they serve.
Hybrid business: A business that serves customers at its business address, and also directly visits or delivers to customers. For example, a restaurant that also delivers food. Hybrid businesses can show their storefront address, set their hours for when they’re staffed at that address, and designate a service area. If your business doesn’t have permanent on-site signage, it’s not eligible as a storefront and should be listed as a service-area business.
Google My Business Service Area Listing – To Hide or Not To Hide Your Address for Higher Rankings
If you are a service area type of business, you should set up a Google My Business Service area listing and not display an address on your Google My Business panel. This is what the Google My Business guidelines recommend anyway.
Many service area businesses however, choose to display an address on their listing despite the recommendations. Is there any benefits in doing so?
